I have the opportunity to upgrade to a FZ30 from my FZ20. I have been very happy with my FZ20, served me well in Africa with some beautiful shots this Summer.
I think I would like the faster start up time and manual zoom of the FZ30, but I am hesitant to part with something that gives me such great photos. Is there any sacrifice in photo quality with upgrading to the FZ30, or any other drawbacks? I'd like to hear from those who have used both.

I have both, in fact I have a FZ10 also...and I am getting it ready to send to my daughter and am taking some photos to be sure all is well.
And I can say that I was really surprised at the difference in the focus of the 10 and 20 compared to the FZ30.
The FZ30 is so much faster and surer, I have seen a couple people here say thats not so but my goodness the difference is amazing.
I like the Picture quality of the FZ30 better but for picture quality alone it would not be worth the upgrade. IMHO
There are so many improvement on the FZ30, panasonic did a good job of listening to the customer.
The only thing I do not really like about the FZ30 is the way the digital zoom is intergrated into the menu but for all I ever used the digital zoom , I can live with it.
