I'm still kinda of new to photography as far as more than just point and shoot. I have been trying for the season to get good action shots of the girls team I help coach. The ones on this page http://members.cox.net/mhsgirlsxc/WickhamPhotos.html are the best I've done so far. These were done using Program for my selection where the camera seems to adjust the shutter and arperture for you when the scene changes light and from still to action. ISO was 100 and 6mp with no zoom.

I've tried shutter, arperture, sport, auto and manual modes. If I get the right light the girls end up blurring and if I get it so that they don't blur the photo ends up too dark. Is using the Program mode the best way or am I missing something in the settings. I've read books, the manual, and even a few posts on sites an dnothign really seems to help.

Thanks ahead for any suggestions and be gentle on my photo skills :), it's hard to coach, cheer and shoot all at the same time.

If you have only tried taking the pictures with the ISO at 100, you might try using the sports mode and increasing the ISO to 200. Another suggestion would be to turn up the sun. (Just kidding with last suggestion.)
