Please Help!!

I have purchased a Dazzle 2.0 USB card reader to transfer files from my sony memory stick.

I am having a bit of trouble.

When I put my memory stick into the card reader and I am at work (logged onto the network) the my laptop finds the memory stick and allows me to transfer files, although it takes about 10 minutes to recognise the memory stick.

When I go home and try from home it just won't find the memory stick. My stick is 1Gb and doesn't have much on it.

I also have a 512Mb stick which I plugged in at home and the Laptop found this instantly and allowed me to transfer files.

I was using my USB cable for my Sony ericcson K750i phone to transfer files but have since found out that there is a problem with the firmware on the phone and when I am tranferring files, the phone keeps wiping them just as fast!! This is why I bought a card reader.

I really need to know if there is a reason why it will work (even though it is very slow) when I am at work, but it won't work at home. I am using the same laptop so the hardware hasn't changed. The laptop found the card twice last night but as soon as it found it and I tried to transfer files, it said the device wasn't ready again!!

I have come into work this morning and plugged the card reader back into me laptop. the laptop is recognising the card reader - it allows me to transfer 3-4 files then tells me the device isn't ready!! could the problem with the phone have corrupted my card some how!!!

Any suggestions would be very greatfully received!!

Please help!!!

Celia-

There may indeed be a different protocol or chip reader required to read 1gb memory sticks. The same thing happens when attempting to read 1gb or greater XD chips.

In the case of the XD chips a special reader made by Olympus is required. It might be something you want to follow up.

Go to Dazzle's web site. They may have an update for this.

I would format the card in the device, not the computer. This may freshen up any software defects.

Are you using a USB2 device maybe on a USB1 computer?

Are you using a USB2 device maybe on a USB1 computer? That really shouldn't matter USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 should be backwards compatible.
