So I got a Nikon D50 from my fiance for Xmas. Had it working fine now all of a sudden when I have it set to AF it will not focus. I go into the menu and no matter what I do I cannot get it to illuminate the auto focus menu. Any suggestions?? Im dying not being able to use this sucker.

Check to make sure both the camera and the lens are set to autofocus. There should be a separate switch on the lens to switch between AF and MF.

Make sure the right AF point selected?

Make sure you didn't set the FEL to AF Engage? (that'll disable AF on the shutter button)?

Make sure you've got the custome option for light AF if required enabled?

In what mode?

If none of the above suggestions work, try taking off the lens, removing the battery and re-mounting the lens. There may also be a setting to restore the factory defaults, you should try this if the re-mounting the lens doesn't work.
If all else fails, you may have a faulty lens/camera
Good Luck
