Hi there. Apologies if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find it. I really like the DSC-V3, but it came out in mid 2004. That's ages ago as far as digital cameras go. I would hate to buy it now just to have its replacement come out right away.
Does anybody know if there's a DSC-V4 (or whatever Sony will call it) coming out soon?
Thanks in advance,
A.

I have one and love it and have thought about buying a DSLR but theres one thing that's holding me back and it pretty much explains the lack of V3 update.
Sony and Konica Minolta have paired up to create Sony DSLRs (probably to announced at the CES running at the moment). The R1 can be seen as the bridging model to test the waters for large sensor, pro-sumer digital cameras for Sony so don't expect Sony to bring out a V4, i think that this product line will end and Sony will migrate all its efforts from that Pro-sumer range to the DSLR range. Can't Wait!
i wouldn't worry overly much about it or any product being replaced, it happens no matter what / when you buy.

Sony's already made their CES announcement unless they've decided to save it for the show. It's not customary for new DSLR's to be announced at CES which is a more general consumer electronics trade show rather than a photography show. For that reason, I would say that DSLR's get announced at PMA instead.

Thank you for the replies. I know that all models eventually get replaced, that's why I want to avoid buying a camera that's been out for a while. I'll wait a bit more to see if Sony makes an announcement.
Thx.

It's still a ways off. Unlike CES, we'll see a lot more photographer-oriented products announced here including those shiny new DSLR's everybody's been anticipating.
