Have others who own this camera had battery problems? It may well be that my experience is perfectly normal - or it may be that there is really a problem with my camera. Ever since it was new (about 18 months ago) it seems to have been a heavy user of batteries. Fresh alkalines last a week with no camera usage, just sitting in the camera, while NiMh might go two weeks with no photo activity before they are flat. This seem to me to be an inordinately high current drain for what essentially is just keeping the
internal clock ticking over.

Have others had or heard of similar experiences with this camera?

First: Don't use AA Alkalines except in a emergency.

Next: What capacity are the NiMH's? Who made them? What charger are you using?

Finally: NiMH batteries have a shelf life of about 4-6 weeks. I have purchased some off-brand NiMH batteries that said they were 2000mAh, but didn't last very long and self discharged very quickly (~3 weeks).

I have GP, MAHA, Powerex, and Pansonic NiMH's and they all work fine, as long as I charge them in a MAHA C204. When I have tried other chargers the batteries only seem to charge to about 75%, so that may be a problem as well.

Here is a good source:

Hope this helps.

hmm...while the camera does use excessive battery power all together, mine has no problem with my sunsystems NiMH 2,000mAh. i tend to get several hours of continuous shooting. and if left alone, i can still turn the camera on some 4 weeks later. (i know never good to store the camera with the batteries in it...but accidents happen. and on more than one occassion.)

i surprised more people don't shoot with this full featured prosumer model.
