I was looking at the recommended A620 from the buying guide. I can get it for $500 cnd at the local 'Best Buy', but i waited for the boxing day sales and i managed to buy a Canon G6 for the same price as the A620. Im pretty sure I got a decent deal but now im having second thoughts on which camera would actually suit my needs better. By the looks of the reviews from this site, the G6 is more suited to photography while the A620 is more all-around. Im quite new to photography so i dont think i could ever take full advantage of what the G6 has to offer...so perhaps having the better movie mode on the A620 would be more useful? Or was the deal i got on the G6 worth keeping?
Either way, i can choose to return the G6 and exchange it for the A620 if it would be a better choice. Help me decide, please.

I am sure that opinions will follow - but here are a few points to consider:
The A620 uses AA batteries and can get 500 shots off them, the G6 about 300 shots off a proprietary battery pack.
The A620 uses SD cards - cheaper, much smaller and less likely to damage the contacts, the G6 uses CF cards - more expensive, much larger and easily damaged contacts.
The A620 has many more "preprogrammed" shooting modes than the G6 - read this as assistance for non-professional photographers.
The A620 has high speed USB 2.0 the G6 has old fashioned USB.
The A620 is much lighter than the G6 - 8.29oz compared to 13.4oz.
The A620 has Canon more advanced DIGIC II processor, the G6 has the old less intelligent DIGIC processor.

CF cards are generally less expensive in my opinion -- if you enter the CF+/MD into account (6GB for $350! 4GB SD is $449)
But then again, the G6 is old, so you're better off with the A620 (but the old G6 has its charms though :D)
*Canadian dollars.

Just curious but is there a significant difference between the original DIGIC and DIGIC II ?

Mostly speed, you will see a slight difference in the speed of how the camera reacts to things in operation.
The G6 has the better lens (more contrast and light sensitive), feels more sturdy and "real camera" like. The A620 is more compact, lighter, a bit faster, uses AA batteries... both are very good cameras, pick the form factor you like.
