canon flash blowing out pics

hi all,

im a novice photographer and could use a little advice.

the canon powershot s400 is my 3rd canon point and shoot and i have had the same problem across all 3. whenever i take pictures indoors in good or low light, the camera blows out my subjects skin tones.

any tips or tricks you can suggest?

Try a piece of waxed paper, or a piece of semi-transparent white plastic from a plastic bottle or something like that over the flash and see if it helps. I seem to recall a post that said someone on ebay sells a clip-on thing that filters the flash to help prevent blow out. I don't know if there is one for a S400 or not.
