Hi,

I think I will be looking at my photo albums not on paper, but rather on a very large LCD display. In this regard, does the 5,6,7Megapixel arguement make a difference?

How large is your LCD display?

I have a regular 17'' LCD on my desk now. But, I'm talking about viewing the pictures that I take today and viewing it on a very large LCD display in my living room tomorrow (tomorrow being 5-8 years from now).

What difference does the 5 Megapixel or 7 Megapixel make in this regard?

I guess the resolution of tomorrow's LCD dispalys will play a role.

If it's a very large LCD television you are talking about, then none at all. DVD, and HD Tv are still outputting considerably less resolution than any digital camera that you can purchase on the market.
If you are talking about a really large LCD computer moniter though, then the higher the better, but all that you have to reduce to what resolution you run on your screen, and factors like that, but then, this is 5-8 years down the road, which should be good, cause a really large tv is really $$$

A picture of 5MP has to be reduced considerably to fit on my 19" monitor and my 68cm TV screen can view clearly even a picture lower than 1MP. But the higher resolution the clearer the picture - the catch is it takes longer to load larger MP. So today's existing monitors can display any size of pictures... BUT....
But who knows what system they will come up in the future? I just hope they will still use JPEG.
