i'd like to know which one of the models is a good buy- the panasonic fz4 or fz5 or canon s1? thanks in advance for the reply.

You should also consider the Fuji 5200, as it's in the same price range as the FZ5. The Sony H1 is also in that range, if you find the right deal (usually from Dell).

What do you mean by good buy? FZ5 is 5MP, the others 4MP and S1 being the oldest of the 3.
Edit: Canon S1 is 3.2MP.
