Dear all,

I currently use a normal 35mm camera,it is a point and shoot kind, very simple but as i am an amature, it is ok until now.

I want to buy a digital camera but would also like to better my photography skills as i always wanted to take many photos but the cost of developing films have stopped me.

I have the following questions:

1- do digital cameras compare with 35mm cameras in terms of photo quality?
2- how many megapixles do i need to make 8 x 11 prints?

please excuse my questions if they appear simple because im still a novice

Thanks

1. Better all the way around.
2. 3-4 MegaPixels is plenty.

Try the Canon A75 or A85. They are about the best all around, all-in-one, relatively small, cameras in the $250 range. Full automatic mode works very well for point-n-shoot, and there are manual modes so that you can learn how things work as well.
