DSC-T1 still image Fine/Standard settings

hey does anyone know what the difference is between the Fine and Standard settings for still images? I took some pictures with these two settings but they don't look anything different, except the file size is only half as big with the standard setting. The image size/resolution/bit depth are all the same... What's the deal?

Have you tried printing them? Most of the time you will only notice the difference when you print it since your monitor may only be able to give out a certain amount of quality that makes it seem similar. Fine should be more detailed than the Standard
