With somewhere around 11" of snow expected in my region tomorrow, I was wondering what everyone uses to protect their camera when shooting while it is actually snowing.
Also, the GF needs rec's on a pair of gloves that will keep her hands warm yet still allow her to operate her FZ20.
TIA

I lived where it snowed--the mountains of Colorado--I never worried about snow on the camera. I carried a towel to wipe it off occasionally and had no problems. The camera was usually cold enough the snow didn't melt quickly anyway.
They make silk and synthetic gloves designed to be worn inside warm wooly mittens. I used the gloves when I had to manipulate something, like a little gas stove or a camera.
How about arctic sniper mittens with the separate trigger finger?

I leave the lens hood in position on my FZ20, and it seems to be long enough to keep snow out. It also makes the lens hang downward when I use the neckstrap. But just in case, I carry lens tissue.
As for the gloves, I wear a thin pair inside a large pair of winter gloves. When I see an interesting subject, I pull the right-hand thin pair out.
Also, I discovered that if the camera is out in the cold long enough, the battery capacity causes the "fuel gauge" to drop one notch. So, just in case, I keep my spare battery in a warm pocket. It buys me more than enough battery time for a long shoot.

Bill
