The only thing I can suggest is to Build a white box - take a translucent Rubbermaid container, put it on it's side and line the inside with white paper (printer paper). Make sure the paper is seamless. Take incandescent lighting (2 or 3 lamps) and put them around the outside of the box (behind the box). Shoot in raw mode and don't use a flash - or make sure you are using the cameras custom white balance functions (don't use AWB). You will be able to get really soft lighting and therefore shouldn't get too much reflection off of the diamond. Any other editing can be done in photoshop or another graphic editor. I have never tried this, however it should work.
Good luck

Very much tarnished but a couple of diamond rings nonetheless :) (taken with a Canon S80 in manual mode)
