Why has the lenses forum been declared closed?

I notice that people are directed to discuss lenses in the camera forums. What about independent anufacturers like Tamron and Tokina. Maybe we should have lens forums for each manufacturer?

That was my only real objection or doubt about closing the lens forum. While it's far from ideal, the best way right now is just to discuss Sigma, Tamron and Tokina in the main DSLR forum. I personally wouldn't ask in the Canon/Nikon DSLR forum unless I specifically wanted to know how XXXX's lens performed on a 350D for example.
