First off, let me say that I'm going to Mexico in two weeks with friends and I really want a new camera for it. That said, I own a Sony DSC-P7 and I love it except it’s a little bulky. First and foremost I’m looking for something small (when it’s in a case) so that I can carry it in my pocket as if it was a wallet. Second I do want some sort of manual options (Shutter speed mostly and scene modes would be nice) and a good movie mode. Also, some cool effects would be nice.
From my research the only cameras I should consider are:
Canon SD450
Canon SD550
Casio ex750
Casio s500 (but that’s on its way out)
Kodak v550
Lumix fx9 (I think that’s the name)
Out of those I favorer the ex750 and sd450 but I was wondering what other peoples input are. I think both are great but it's hard for me to buy a camera form Casio, a company who makes watches first as apposed to cannon who specializes in cameras. I like the color swapping in the cannons and the things like that but I also like the manual setting on the Casio and the several screen modes.
as long as its around 400 or bollow i dont care how much it cost, and im going to use it for snapshots first but i also plan to use it for a digital photography course i'm taking next quarter and to mess with digital photography on my own time.
I guess what I’m asking is this: which one (of my two favorite or of my compiled list or your own list) should I buy and why?
Thanks
