Best supercompact/compact Digital point and shoot for people photos

I am buying a camera for a friend...and I am just wondering maybe 5 examples of the best cameras for a friend in college. The smaller the better the conditions would be some lowlight some action not many but just pictures of people... Something with great pictures...Anything in the 200-600 range prefrebly...
