Budget

$350

Size

As compact as possible without loosing image quality

Features

How many megapixels will suffice for you? at least 4 MP

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify) Standard

* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10) 10

Do you care for manual controls? Nice but not neccessary as I make most of my adjustments in Photoshop

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for? Shoot almost all of my images of people (usually close-ups) and usually indoor and often in low light. Already have a good digital for outdoor shots.

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? Some 8 x 10's.

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? Yes, almost exclusively

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? Yes to capture child 1st's

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate? currently have Fuji and Olympus digital cameras but open to all

Are there particular models you already have in mind? Was considering the Casio Exilim EX-z750 or EX-z120 but not sure if image quality is good enough

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD) Would like optical view finder but not mandatory and also looking for large LCD (at least 2 inches)

I would recommend a Fuji F10 since you mentioned lots of indoor pictures (but it lacks manual controls). Also, manual controls have little to do with post-procesing in Photoshop. Manual controls let you control the white balance, shutter speed and aperture, and generally, you can't substitute Photoshop for what you can do with these tools.
