Hi, where I'm from, the Canon S2 IS and the S80 are priced exactly the same. Which must I buy? Is 5.0 MP enough for me? Is 8 MP an overkill? I'm just an enthusiast when it comes to this things. On average, I only print up to 8x10 pictures; and occassionally, I would like to print a couple of small tarps as well. I don't care much about size, so I'm leaning towards the S2. The IS feature is something that I'd want as well since me and my dad have really shaky hands. My only doubt on this is that the S2 has just become too outdated.

Outdated how? It is the most "modern" of all 5mp ultrazoom cameras with its speed, swivelable display and movie mode, it is on the market half a year... and you find it outdated?

The S80 is a high end compact metal camera with a wide angle lens. The S2 IS is a mid size ultra zoom camera with a big range, IS to aid with the tele shots... both are very different in concept.
