I bought S9000 a month ago. Now, I'm looking for a good flash for it. Please recommend a few options, pros and cons for each one. I don't know how much I would spend for it, so I need to get a rough idea for this first.

Please help. Thank you.

I use two Canon 550EX's with a special foot I made to be able to use them manually.
I also have Vivitar 285's.
Many on the web have used Sunpak.
Search the web for more info.

I would use the $85 Vivitar 285 manually.

Manual flash is very easy, all you need is the distance the subject is from you, the ISO, Aperture, and setting on the 285.
It sounds very complicated but is quite simple. Once you know what to set, you only need to change your aperture while shooting, in most cases.

With manual flash black comes out black, white as white, and all the colors in between, as I learned from a wedding Pro, (after I spent my $ for the canon 550ex's).

No, the S9000 has no TTL flash.

Hope this helps,

Regards, Nicholas

What about Sunpak 383? I read some where it said this model is better than Vivitar 285.

Vivitar 285 is discontinued, so I bought Sunpak 383. It works great.

How do you find the cam Jay. I was looking at getting a S5200 but tried the S9000 and really liked the ability to zoom manually with my hand on the lense, great feature. What cam did you own before?
