I plan on trying to take a photo of a shadow casted by venus tonight (Eg, by using the light from venus taking a photo of the shadow created by it). I was just wondering what camera settings would maximised my chances on taking a photo of a very slight shadow at night.
I currently only have access to a Panasonic FZ20 and a Canon S2 IS (Which are not desireable, would prefer to be using a dSLR or SLR). Tonight, in New Zealand atleast it is a great time to take such a photo because Venus is very bright and there is no moon.
Any advice would be great.
Here is a article explaning the event.

I suspect trying to get this photo is going to be a great time waster, long periods of waiting in the cold, driving to remote patches in the darkness..... oh well.
Edit: Clouds blocked Venus, could not even see it. Oh well, might check again tonight, then again tomorow. Then I would be better prepared next month.....
