I don't see much talk of 17th Street Photo, but I will give them credit here. I bought a brand new D80 with Nikon 18-55 VR lens for $877 shipped. I ordered Sunday and they shipped it out on Monday. It should be here today and I can't wait to get up to speed with the Nikon system. I didn't even know they sold this as a kit, the lens is newer than the camera.
Great price and fast shipping, seems like a winning combo to me.
EDIT: It arrived today! It is the original box with all accessories, contrary to what the price might indicate. Will buy from them again if the price is right.

I've often wondered what happened to 47th St Photo. They use to give great service at least on par with B&H. I've ordered from them many times but, that's been years ago. Maybe they went out of business.

They are still out there...

How is it that this thread has fallen below the default "view last month's posts only" AND down to page 2 (when set to view past year's posts)?? Or, why isn't it a sticky?
I'm looking to replace my busted S1 IS with either an slr-style bridge cam, or SLR + 2/3 lenses + camcorder, depending on what I can afford. (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?p=319605)
I was recently looking at Google product listings. Would I be fairly safe if I limit my search to sites with a rating of 4 stars or better (the highest rating it'll let you narrow down to - max rating is 5 stars)?
I'm hoping to buy something by November or early December. At the rate things are going, it'll be unlikely that I'll be able to spend more than $1000-1200.
