So I've been taking a basic digital course at the local photography school for the past few weeks now. Its just once a week during the weeknights, and so far I've been really impressed with what I've learnt from it so far.

This last class they brought us down to the We spent the studios. We spent a full 3hrs in the two studio rooms. Each room was setup with different lighting and we had 2 models to shoot. 45 mins each one, in each room, and they split the class up into two.

I'm still going thru all my pictures, but here is one of my favs so far. The face is overexposed, one of the downfalls for not having a histogram on my camera :(

I really liked the relaxed look from the model. I found her easier to work with then the other model, who honestly didn't really seem like she wanted to be there.

This next picture edited in photoshop. I was kinda board, and thought I would fool around with the functions and see what I could make up. I dunno, I kinda like the end product, but again there is quite a bit of exposure issues on her face, not sure if it works in this edited photo or not.

Have to agree, very nice pose! (really took me aback for 30 seconds - she looks EXACTLY like an old friend).

I'm afraid getting bored wouldn't be my first thought.

Have fun with the class!:)

Thanks Vich!

Well I went thru some more (since I have to pick 5 to hand in tomorrow at class) and this was another one I liked. It was taken in the other studio (whic background) so exposure was much better (hopefully!).

I don't often convert my images to b/w but I ended up really liking this one in b/w. Comments? Or would you prefer to see it in color?

Hey Gujustud would you mind sharing what you did in Photoshop to soften up the image. I am trying to learn this atm and I am impressed with your results. If its not too much to ask, would you mind listing the steps you go through so I can try it in PS?

Thanks

Well, that's "A" work!

Agree the first 2 had serious lighting / exposure problems - and over-PPed.

The second made her eyes look like she needed sleep (maybe from-above lighting angle combined with over-contrasting - and her nose looks crooked) but the first caught her looking so beautiful that even the light-scorches on her cheek were forgivable.

The third however I would expect on a magazine cover. Whatever made that one work, remember it!

The b&w is an awesome shot. IMO - leave it as is, no need for color.

Very nice B/W - I'd love to get my hands on the file and convert it to B/W and tweak it. . . if you are interested I'd post the results naturally and what I did to get it looking the way I did. . .
