Hi there everyone!

I've had a Powershot A60 for 2 years now and i've loved it since the day i bought it. Never been disatisfied with it.

Today tho, when i powered it on to take some pics, i noticed something wrong in the display window. It looks like an old tv waiting to blow up. There are noise lines all over the place moving. It occurs only when in shooting mode, but the lines dont appear in the pics i've shot. It only appears on the display window. Funny thing is they dont appear either when i'm looking at the pics i've shot. Only when in shooting mode. So i guess something's wrong with the digital capture sensor or whatever it's called? I guess it's not that bad since it doesn't affect the pics i've shot, but i'd still like to repair that problem if possible.

Thank alot for any comments. :)

Hi. A Google search led me to your post. I wanted to echo essentially the same experience you are having. My A60 is about 2 years old and has recently begun the same display problems you are seeing on your camera. While it doesn't affect the images, it makes setting up a shot a little tough. There must be others out there experiencing this!

If I understand you, you can see previously shot pics clearly, but the LCD is messed up for new ones. My mother's A60 had identical symptoms as a result of being packed in the luggage department (not carry-on).

Note: this is different from Wirewood's problem since the new photo downloads were messed up too. It's a sensor problem.

Turns out; Canon (and several other big manufacturers) have a general recall with this exact description. It explicitly extends beyond any warranty period, apearently all A60's are potentially affected. I sent it in for her.

If you call them; they'll mail you a UPS label for postage-paid. See the Canon web site for details.
