Which camera should I buy?
Budget
* I have planned on spending $500-600 for camera and printer. I know this means I will probably spend $600 - $700.
Size
* I am looking for something easy to carry around. I like the medium sized cameras, but would be willing to go bigger for better.
How many megapixels will suffice for you? Again, I think more is better. I was thinking 7 megapixels
* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify) I was told today by a Kodak salemans this was more important than the megapixels. He was trying to sell me the Kodak Easyshare with 10X Optical with 4 or 5 megapixels. I was looking at the 7 megapixels cameras with 4x optical
* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10) 10
Do you care for manual controls? They scare me. I am a new camera buyer. I have always wanted to be able to use manual but probably wouldn't use too much.
General Usage
* What will you generally use the camera for? I want to take really great family photos, vacation pictures. I will probably not be using for action photos. I know I am wanting to take pictures that look like a professional, but I guess you have to be a professional to get that. So what I want is something that will help me get started.
* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? No I don't think so.
Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? Yes
Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? No, rarely.
Miscellaneous
Are there particular brands you like or hate? I like the big LCD screen 2.5", I would like not to buy batteries or I guess I could buy the rechargeable.
Are there particular models you already have in mind? I have been looking at all brands. The digital camera I have is a dinosaur HP Photosmart. I have been planning to buy this camera with some bonus money and I want this camera for the upcoming holidays, a cruise vacation, and my daughter's Jamaica wedding.
(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD) No
