Not very significant. Just a faster new version of the processor. Cameras with DIGIC 1 are very capable anyway, it does not have much bearing in the image quality. A G6 with digic 1 is still a great camera.

for your help - much appreciated! If you have a store near you that carries the A95 and the A610, shoot both at the same time and you'll have as close a comparrison as possible. Then you will know firsthand.

I find the difference to be quite siginficant, but then again, I shoot hundreds of photographs a week and tend to notice those sorts of things. I have the G6 and the S2...and, however great the G6 is, the S2 runs rings around it from a performance standpoint. And the bottom line for me is did the camera itself limit my ability to get the shot? So, my advice on this is get all the performance you can afford. And, it's pretty much an accepted fact...Digic II outperforms the processors in most camera today.

said that size doesn't matter but I have been to the store since all of this discussion and although I don't need ultra compact the S2 was suprisingly heavier. But I can get past that. The only issues left are Ultra Zoom is it worth it and Image Stabilization. Do I dare say that most of INFLUX of digicam users do not have IS and they are taking good shots. I don't mind spending the money but I really don't want to overbuy if I don't have to. Does that make sense?

The stabilization and zoom go hand in hand; the longer your lens, the more IS is important to get shake-free shots. Whether the zoom is worth it? Tell me - have you ever found yourself wishing you could get juuust a bit closer to something you wanted to take a photo of?

But if you don't plan to print big or crop, the extra megapixels (and extra bucks) aren't really buying you anything. But, it's always nice to have the higher resolution if you think you might ever need it/want it.

For the record, IS is only a factor if you need/want a large zoom and only really required above 200mm. IS also helps a little in lower-light situations because it buys you a stop or two...

But you're doing the right thing...gather as much info as possible...but try and go handle the cameras in person....nothing beats trying them for yourself! :)
