My girlfriend was planning on surprising me with a digital camera for my birthday but she eventually gave in and told me so I could help decide.
My Dad had recommended the Konica Minolta Z3 (he has one of the other models in this range) and my girlfriend had also come across the Kodak Z740.
I like the size of the kodak as well as the larger screen but I prefer the speed of the Minolta and the fact it has more manual control such as manual focus (I've read that the AF on both cameras is slow in low light).
I'm slightly put off by the noise reduction of the kodak but also by the low quality images of the minolta in low light.
I also like the fact that the Minolta's movie frame rate is 30fps as apposed to the Kodak's 15fps.
Basically, I don't see too much between them as they both have a lot of good features that appeal to me and so I can't make up my mind and I need some guidance!
Basically, which takes the better photo and is it that bad to not have manual focus?
I'm after a digital camera that is better than my current 2 mega pixel one (Kodak EasyShare somethingorother) but not as big as my 35mm SLR (Canon EOS 300 / Rebel 2000) yet can take just as good photos as it. And I want all this for £180 or less.
I think my girlfriend would rather get me the Kodak as at the moment, we've found a site that sells it £60 cheaper than the Minolta.
I'm also open to suggestions of other cameras in this class for similar money.
Thanks in advance for your help.
