Canon A610 or SD450

I want a small use all camera and not sure which of the 2 I will be more comfortable and happy with. Being pocket size is not totally important. Which one will give better all around pictures and make me feel safer bringing up in the mountains, around town and all other general purpose uses. The A610 is bigger so it would seam safer to hold and carry around. Picture quality is the major factor and I am not sure which will produce the better picture. Also most of my picture taking is outdoors. I like both but am not sure which one I should go with. any help would be appreciated.

Then we can move forward from there...

Both cameras do well outdoors but if size is not an issue then the A610 has a marginal edge in picture quality and would be the better choice for you. The other bonuses are the fact you can swivel/protect the LCD screen and bring spare AA's for your mountain treks.
