This camera received good marks in its review. However, there was no mention of the need of image stablizer with the 10x zoom. Is image stabilizing necessary? Will I regret not purchasing a extended zoom camera that has IS?:rolleyes:

If you're looking to get a UZ camera, then I would suggest one with OIS. It definitely helps at full telephoto, as well as when using slower shutter speeds :)

Thanks for your help. I believe I've finally decided on my camera of choice. The Canon A620. I was wavering between that and the S2. I couldn't decide if the zoom was something I needed or just a bonus. I think in the end, I want a convenient camera I can carry in my purse. I believe the 620 has all the features and more that I want. If anyone has any additional input, I'd still be open to suggestions. I'm not buying until next weekend:)

Great, I'm glad you made a decision so quickly! Enjoy your new camera once you get it! A lot of people have been very happy with Canon's A series :)

I've actually been looking for a couple of months. I've been narrowing my choices down, taking my time not to jump at the first camera that i see. It's an investment and a committment - kind of like a low priced marriage.;)
