I am about to spend a few thousand hard-earned dollars on a DSLR and pro lenses. I am having trouble choosing between Canon and Nikon.
What I like about Canon DSLRs:
- Low noise on higher ISOs
- Good technology on prosumer models
- Good resolution, ISO range, etc.
- Moving toward full-frame sensors
Things I like about Nikon
- Good ergonomics
- Good reputation for optics
- D200 just came out
- Underwater photography is dominated by Nikon
What I want to shoot:
- Nature: Landscapes, low-light/night, coastal, wildlife
- MACRO!!!
- Black and white (PhotoShop time required, I know)
- People/family snapshots
- Travel (i.e. European architecture)
- Studio (people, animals)
I am looking at the Canon 20D, a 16-35 f/2.8L lens, and 24-70 f/2.8L lens, a 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens, 100 f/2.8 or 180mm macro, 580EX flash, etc.
*OR*
Nikon D200, 17-35 f/2.8ED lens, 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens, etc. (I know more about Canon products at this point.)
WHAT SHOULD I GET?!!! What are the positives and negatives with either system? I also plan on getting a used pro film body.
