I've had a Fuji 3800 for several years and never had a problem. The other night I was taking a picture and right as the flash went off, the batteries ran out of juice and the camera shut off. When I put in new batteries, the camera does not function properly any more. When I put it in camera mode, the lens extends, but will not lock into place, you can hear it continue to make the same motion inside.

Any ideas if this is easily fixable? I've removed the batteries for a day and when I put them back in, still the same problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Chris

This is only a guess:

Does the camera have a master "Reset" button?

Some do. This might help.

Nope, no master reset. Thanks for the input, though.

I have what appears to be the same problem. The interior portion of the lens extends and retracts and the iris opens and closes (not the shutter). None of the buttons, the LCD or the viewfinder work, although the green LCD beneath the viewfinder lights up. The camera cycles through the same lens extension and retraction and that's it. It was fine one day and didn't work the next. Very frustrating.
