Hello All,

Auto Focus Test, Moving Object, 300mm, Handheld
ISO 80,Shutter Priority,
High Speed Shooting Off,
1/1000, f6.5 to 4.9
WB Auto, All other settings at Default.

Place: Along flight path over Flushing.
Planes disappear behind trees as they get lower for landing approach.
Start: 11: 29:27, Finish: 11:30:07, 40 seconds.

Unscientific test to show Autofocus function of S9000.
Please remember these shots are handheld at 300mm which may affect image quality.
No Post Processing at all except resize for web.

Did you use the zoom on that plane if you did the S9000 has a fantastic zoom..

Hello Hercules, Kushnirenko, and All,

The original shot ( smaller plane ) is the 300 mm shot.

I enlarged part of the plane to create the close-up insert so that you can see if detail was captured.

This was single shot.

Due to the nature of these Post 911 TIMES, I am reluctant to use my tripod to point my camera at a moving plane.

But to be fair to my S9000, 300 mm handheld is not a good "Automatic Focus" test. However my test images showed, dispite my hand holding at 300 mm, the plane's detail was captured effectively, IMHO.
