This morning I took one step backwards too many, right into my spa. I thought quick enough to hold it up as I went in, but it did go partially in. The power remained on and I canned air dried it and left it to further dry for several hours. When I came home the power was off but the lens remains out. I'm I totally screwed? All suggestions are welcome. Thanks, sad rose girl.:(

I think I would take the batteries and memory card out, leave their doors open, and set it by a sunny window for another day before firing it up again.

I agree with McDave, it's worth a shot. I'd open every thing I could on it then put it in front of a small fan to dry it as quickly as possible. Years ago I dropped my cell phone into my muddy irrigation canal, retrieved it, managed to remove the tiny cover retaining screws that we're not supposed to get into, fan dried it most of the day. It started working perfectly again and lasted for another 2+ years until I updated.

Just in case do not use the "wet" batteries any longer. They might leak and ruin your equipment.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. Everything that opens is open and I have two fans blowing on it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. It now works intermittently. I'm continuing to dry it out. Rosemaven

Electronics are pretty good if they get wet usually. Just leave to dry for a while. The only problems usually are from corrosion and remaining stuck in gpas where the air cannot get to it to dry it out. Also the other worry on cameras is water getting in between the lens parts causing fogging etc.

After drying it out, it began to work intermitantly. I finally bit the bullet and sent it in to Canon. I can't imagine what it's going to cost. Rosemaven

Good news to me is that the repair will only cost $127. I should have it back in 7-10 days!:)

That's a lot of money in Argentina! (try to think in the price multiplied by 3)... That's the exchange ratio.
Congratulations for the happy ending.

Sent it to Canon. Got good news first. It was to cost $127 to repair. A week later there was re-estimate. According to the tech, the damage was severe. It was diagnosed to be non repairable at a reasonable cost. It was a total loss. :(

I probably should have sent in right away, or would that have helped? I re-think it now and realize that salt water was probably the enemy. I remembered that our pool is chlorinated using a salt chlorinator. So as the pool water dried on the electronics, a salt residue was probably left.:(

They are sending the camera back with pictures taken of the internal parts.

This was a crazy accident. As for the next S2IS I will very aware of where I am in reference to the pool and spa. Of course no backing up without looking exactly where I am. I am very fortunate that my husband is replacing the birthday present. :)

Just a thought. I bought my S2 on a Platinum credit card just because they give you a FREE additional year of warranty and a FREE 90-day replacement from purchase if lost, damaged or even stolen. Did you buy it with one? If you did, you win the prize!! If not, consider buying the next one that way. I purchase all of my electronics and other similar items in such a fashion just in case - and why not take advantage of it.

Maybe this will help.
