Hey guys,

Just a quick question. Do you guys find that the lenscap is so crappy on the S2 IS that it falls off and the lens gets dirty/smudged/whatever? If this happens, is it easy to fix/clean? Thanks!

I too found the lens cap on the S2 IS worthless. When I carried the camera, I had to hold it with one hand over the lens to keep the d**n cap on.
I was going to try and remedy the cap situation, but a far better solution I found was to buy a lensmate adaptor and collapsible hood, then a Hoya UV filter and Tamron lenscap. That way, I have a *real* snap on lenscap and lens protection! the camera's a bit larger, but in the scheme of things I don't find it obtrusively large at all!

In the Tips sticky thread at the top of this forum there is a tip to pinch the cap's cord between the cap and lens housing to better hold the cap in place. I tried it and it works fine.

I use microfiber cloths for basic lens cleaning, or Bosch & Lomb wet naps lens cleaners for more stubborn smudges.

The lens cap is designed to be loose on the camera in case you forget to remove the cap when turning the camera on so as not to jam the lens. Mine is loose but it does not fall off but then again I have not even had mine a month yet. The material around the inside of the cap has probably worn off on yours just from use. If its annoying you that much, you can just buy another cap from Canon or what the other person suggested above.
