Is the S2 IS being replaced or phased-out?

I know there was already a string concerning the S2 IS being replaced or phased-out. In my area (Charleston SC) they seem to be as scarce as chicken-teeth. And none of the sales people seem to know anything, which I guess shouldn't surprise me too much. But then I -mailed Canon and asked them about if they were planning to phase out or replace the S2 IS about a week ago and haven't hear a word from them. In the past I've sent them e-mails about various things and got a reply usually the next day. Maybe I'm just being Paranoid, but if anyones heard anything from Canon or other good scource please let me know, Thanks in advance. :confused:

JTL mailed and asked them; it's not being phased out, they're just experiencing shortages due to high demand.
