I'm confused.
one of the important aspects of a camera is how fast it can take a picture. Consider this situation: You are at a football game and you are attempting to take a picture of the QB throwing a pass. You have the camera on and already aimed. Just before he throws the ball, you press the button. How long before the camera captures the image.
Cnet gives a time of 0.6 seconds for a "shot time."
However, in other places, the camera has been given a "response time" and "shutter lag time" of 0.007 seconds. Obviously this isn't a timming error. These two are timing something different. Which is which. What takes .007 sec and what take .5 seconds?
Also, (this applies to all digital snapshot cameras) how much of a difference would it make if you slightly press the button to auto focus just before the action then when it happens you press all the way. Would this improve response time greatly? What if you are taking pictures of objects passing quickly in front of you such as, runners or cars. Would the pre focusing help or would the object close to you be out of focus?
Thanks for your help
(sorry for posting here and in the "what camera should I buy" forum. I didn't know where to post)
