Shutter Speed: 1/250 sec

That's a really cool picture!
How did you get the moon to look so blue??
Also - it's a tricky subject to get to look as good as that anyway - so
brilliant job. Did you use a manual exposure as well as spot??
Excellent job!
Geoff
Ditto Geoff's comments. Great first post! A very challenging subject to tackle with a brand new camera. Well done...:)

I agree with the others an excellent shot. I got lots of fuzzy shots before I posted an OK one on the moon thread quite a while ago. I turned that blue in post processing, how did you get it to look like that from the camera?

I assure you, this was a crop-only edit - no photoshop trickery. I wanted to post it 'as is' for you to see the blue effect which I believe was a combination of the settings and the very thin cloud layer that was out last night. That thin cloud layer also resulted in the ethereal blue halo noise. I will have to clean up the CA on the perimeter too... But that's the direct from the camera results. I was pleasantly surprised when I d/l'd the pics to my PC and found 6 of my 30'ish shots to be that beautiful blue. I was just experimenting with various combinations of aperture/shutter speed/ISO/exposure/metering, etc. You know, just trying to learn what works and what doesn't. Despite all the variations, they were all pretty cool! I am loving this camera.
When I do clean up the noise and the CA, I'll add a frame and post the polished up version. But that may take awhile 'cause we have a new baby in the house (as well as a precocious two year old - both boys - ha ha - wish us luck)!
EDIT: And my sincere apologies for starting a new thread - I didn't even notice the moon thread - I was just so excited to post my rookie photo that I didn't follow proper protocol.
