eastbluffs, some great aquarium shots, & some whacky looking sea horses as well ...thanks
- these are not always easy to take & I should imagine dSLR rools here!
A good start then, to what could be an interesting thread - please - you guys out there - send in your aquarium piccies.
I have just a few - not brilliant - but I will rumage around when I get home from work and have 5 minutes.
Geoff:)

These are all so good - I hesitate to show any of mine - which are only
mostly quickly snapped shots on holidays...
Starting with the most recent - in La Rochell they have a lovely Aquarium.

That one opened it's mouth a lot wider after I took the shot
Here's one that's been arond a long time...
(Both of these taken on the A-200)
(PS - No flash allowed - so tricky shutter speeds and ASA's)

~ And Nemo gets around - here with a mate..
This is last year and pre A-200 with the Olympus C-740 in Devon

& finally for now - this last offering - I liked this one
(despite it not being tack sharp)

You guys sure know about aquarium shooting. Here's one technically from an aquarium because its all the "Long Beach Aquarium", but a lot easier to shoot. Holds still and everyting!:D

My first time taking pictures at an aquarium. I was pleased with how this shot of the lion fish turned out, I did very little PP.

Rallysman,

Nice crisp shots with good lighting isolating the fish.

Here is one of the stars of the Georgia Aquarium, a whale shark. I was there at feeding time and all the fish get pretty agitated. I punched up the color and sharpness a little much, but I liked the way it really grabs at you.

Wow, I'm amazed any aquarium is big enough to house a whale shark.

Rallysman, I like the tunnel view, I might have to take one on my next visit. What focal length was that? I think I have a close up of that same big grouper, I hear he weighs in at 400lbs.

Dread Pirate, there are four whale sharks and a pretty good sized manta ray as well. The standard guess-timate is that there are 120-100,000 fish in the big tank.

Anyway here are a few more.

A couple from the California Academy of Sciences. This was my first try at aquarium photos. I did get some decent ones, but the lighting was a big issue for my camera.

Don't know how I managed to miss this thread up to now but thanks Lukas for reviving it. There are some great shots on here nicely done guys. I've tried to take aquarium shots in the past and to be honest they have been some of the worst shots I've ever taken, absolute rubbish straight to the delete button. Would some of you please share your tips for shooting in aquariums so I can have another go.

For me, IS on, f/4, ISO 1600 to get the fastest SS I can. After that look for a clean piece of glass and try to find something that's not moving around too much. Other people with newer gear will have more luck than me.

Here's another one of a moving target.

Thanks Lukas, iso 1600, I don't venture there that often. Maybe I'll give it a try but will probably have to go for some noise reduction as well in my case.
