I recently purchased a nikon coolpix 5900 after lots of research. Lately I haven't been able to read to many reviews of new cameras. I was wondering if there are any new compacts with at least the following:
2 inch lcd
optical viewfinder
AF illuminator
and 5 megapixels

Thank You.Canon SD450 meets (exceeds - 2.5" LCD) these requirements.

Take a look at the Olympus C-5500

And then realize it is ugly and slow, has no printed manual and not such a great software bundle, and then start to wonder why you look at it in the first place ;)

Everyone seems to have their own oipinion. Perhaps your flavor is entitled: sour grapes. Why not work together and help people who really want answers. Your sarcasm seeps through!

NanoOne person's sarcasm is another person's humor...and this place could use a little humor. I wouldn't take things (especially cameras) so seriously. And, advice can be negative as well as positive...his points have some validity. :)

In all fairness the C-5500 is not such a great package, so why recommend that camera, especially as the only recommendation? I do not see the best of help in there, just a strange brand loyalty.

And what was so wrong about my reply, it points out some weaknesses of the camera, that certainly must be helpful.
