After cracking the screen on my old Rebel (old) and not being able to get it replaced, I searched for a way to protect my new Rebel. I came across this protector: http://www.delkin.com/delkin_products_pop_up_shade.html
I bought the pro version cause I like it that I can remove the shade. It has a clear plastic piece that protects the screen. Definitely worth the money in my mind.

You must have been hell on your camera. I don't baby mine at all and the screen's not even scratched. Pretty cool idea though...if not for protection, at least for glare block.

Thanks for posting this great info. I've been looking for this from the other manufacturer but they haven't made one for XT only rebel. Now I know where to get it.
No matter what I do to be careful with the screen, I manages to scratch it.
thanks again for posting this.

what I do is put a piece of clear vinyl on it. it sticks itself and doesn't come off unless you peel it off to wash it or something... good for scratch protection. I also have a SD200 with a piece of vinyl on it. originally when i put it on, there were some trapped air pockets which couldn't be removed no matter what you did. over time, those air pockets disappeared and the vinyl now is hardly noticible.
the only other problem i had was the required purchase of 1 yard (minimum purchase) at a plastics store.

I just did this on my Rebel XT. Bad packing of my camera on my part. Really pissed me off. Would Canon not repair it? or was it just too costly?
I'm curious because I don't want to pay ship my camera to them and have them tell me it isn't repairable.

The 2.0" plastic insert is able to be replaced, and cheaply too.

Where can I get some kind of sticker or screen protector for the LCD of my new Canon XT to prevent it from scratches?

I don"t see why you can't just buy a pack of protectors for PDA and cut down to size. You should be able to find them where-ever PDA's are sold.
