Yup, Bertrand is pretty famous for his photos, as is Vincent Laforet. Both like shooting airials (especially from helos). Since I travel a lot I shoot a lot of cloud and land formations. Every once in a while you get some really nice shots.

The Mamiya is not a steller shooting speed performer, but shows the state-of-the-art. Please note that it is not a full frame 35mm, but a larger format 4:3 type sensor (like 120 film). They use the same sensor in their digital-back for studio cameras.

No, unfortunately it was the 20D. The 10D is a nice camera, but was more expensive than the D70 when I was in the market. I have used a 10D and while I liked it (a lot), I thought the D70 was better. I'm sure that there will be several 10D's hitting the used market shortly, if not already. If you can pick one up for less than $800 then it might be worth it.

As for a lens, you might want to take a look at the Sigma 18-125 DC for daily use (around $300). And a used 50mm f1.8 (around $50-$75) for portraits. When you get into the IS (Image Stabilized) lenses things start getting more expensive. Not too bad on the Canon side, but Nikkor VR (same as IS) lenses can cost more than the camera.

Anyway, good luck on your hunt. Let us know if you find a good 10D deal.
