I am actually going to buy this camera tonight after doing much research. It will be my first digital camera and for a newbie I think it will suit me fine. In the beginning I think the only accesories I am going to purchase are a larger memory stick/card (are they the same?), a 128Mb instead of the 32Mb, and a carrying case. Now I have read about an A/C adaptor and I am not sure what ti would be needed for. Does anyone have advice for me or am I going to have to ask the guy at the store who just wants me to buy anything and everything? Any advice would help so thanks ahead of time.

All cameras use some sort of removable memory card. They come in different formats, with different shapes, so they are (for the most part) completely incompatible. Sony, rather than using Compact Flash or Secure Digital, chose to make their own format, call Memory Stick. Because Sony is just about the only ones who use it, they tend to cost more per meg than other memory cards. But in the grand scheme of things it doesn't amount to much additional cost until you get into the very large cards.

You may find 128 meg too small for this camera, I'd go for 256 at least.

Now I have read about an A/C adaptor and I am not sure what ti would be needed for. Does anyone have advice for me or am I going to have to ask the guy at the store who just wants me to buy anything and everything? Any advice would help so thanks ahead of time.
Unless you plan on running the camera hooked up to your TV for long periods of time, for a slide show, I see no reason to buy and A/C adaptor. Get two sets of NiMH rechargable and a nice charger (MAHA) and you'll be all set.

I put off the purchase until today to see if I got any feedback. Now I know I don't need the A/C adaptor (yet) and I'll go ahead and splurge on the 256 Mb Memory Stick.
