This might be a question about exposure as well, I suppose...but you have to start somewhere!

I'm interested in taking the next step and setting up a small portrait area in my apartment. But I don't really know a lot about lighting. At this point, my budget will only support on-camera flash and one seperate flash/strobe head mounted remotely.

Does anyone have any favorite books/authors I ought to look into on this subject? I am interested in doing a bunch of reading on this. I'm particularly interested in an author who examines basic portrait set ups with the aid of diagrams (since I do a poor job of visualizing some things)...anyway, I'd love to know what you've been reading on this subject.

yours,

Julian

Over at fredmiranda.com they have a nice lighting forum. I would recommend going over there and reading.
There are a lot of guys that know what they're doing and are very helpful.
I would post a link to the forum, but it wouldn't be useful unless you are logged in.

Thanks, ObiJuan--I have been over there before but never checked the lighting forum.
