Experimenting/learning high speed synch for fill-in flash outdoors. My mom was burning some old wood & trash outside so I took the camera & sigma flash out and she cooperated. We were in a shade of trees, with the background being an open area with plenty of light. These are straight from the camera as JPEG with only a little USM added. No touch-ups, no color correction, no levels adjustments - USM only. What do you think? (Trust me - if they were real portraits I would touch-up where necessary, clone out, etc etc etc)
I just wanna know how I did with the fill flash. I do notice some harshness coming off the cheeks, but I didn't have the Lightsphere attached so I take blame for and already know about that error.
Basic EXIF: Manual mode, 1/500th, f/6.3, 137mm, ISO200 for both.

Is she holding a dog? If so, why would you use a horizontal orientation that showed only the dog's ears instead of a vertical portrait orientation that would show the dog's face?

Yes she's holding a dog. And because I don't have a flash bracket and was too lazy to crop when I posted the image(s). I cropped and cloned out the dog ears for an 8x10.

I cloned out the dog (I'm not very good at it though) then adjusted the levels.

Sure, you can see some of the cloning trails, but had you not mentioned it, or had I not known about the dog's ears, I would have had no reason to even try to find them. They don't jump out at you, but they aren't hard to see if looked for either. I don't think anybody will notice it unless you tell them what you did. Nice job.

Thanks...I'm no photoshop magician like some folks on here and other forums...but I could MAYBE do a better job if I spent a little more time on it. If it was an important photo that dog woulda never been there in the first place though! lol
