I am looking for a camera for my boyfriend who has been using a Fuji Finepix 3800, but needs a newer, better one. He is trying to get a photography business started selling landscape photos. I want something with excellent detail and something that will print at least somewhat bigger than 8 x 10's, so something more than 3.2 megapixels. The zoom should be more than 6x. In regards to cost, something less than $400 is preferrable. Also, something that is easy to hold and has autofocus. Mostly used outdoor for landscapes and closeups of flowers, butterflies, etc. He has been happy with the Fuji, and I am wondering if a newer Fuji would be best or something different. If you are interested in his photography, please email me and I will send you the link to his website. Thanks for helping!

I guess you and your boyfriend must be pretty close, but it seems odd to me that he would be thinking of starting a photography business, and then would leave the important job of selecting the camera he should use, to you? Just how much bigger than 8X10 prints will he be trying to sell? Will he be printing his own photos, or having them printed elsewhere? What's the plan? Seems like there are a lot of cameras with more pixels than the Fuji 3800, but most folks I know of who are in the business of selling photographs are equipped with some higher-end equipment, generally in the dSLR category, with a much bigger total investment than $400? Don't mean to sound like Mr. Pessimist, just wondering.

Well, when we win the lottery, we'll be sure to buy a better camera. Like I said, we are just starting out . . . and many people have expressed interest and purchased his photos so something must be working. He does not print them himself. Just wondering how much bigger than 8x10 we could afford . . . just exploring the options. He isn't leaving me the job . . . I was just looking to get some opinions to share with him. If anyone has any helpful suggestions, I would appreciate it.
