focus issues with S2 pro

I shoot nature pix with my S2 and always have a soft focus wsing a telephoto. Even with a tripod. I can't find an S2 firmware update. I've found F3 updates, but none for my camera. Any suggestions?

Maybe your lens is soft in that range?
