:confused: My Optio 550 has suddenly lost its ability to process and record an image. I suspect either the main chip has gone bad or else the lens barrel mechanism is the probelm.
Love this little camera, but a few months ago it developed a high-pitched whine whenever the power was turned on the lens barrel extended into shooting position. Sounds like the motor is straining to extend the lens. Same whine (but slightly lower pitch) when the zoom button moves the lens barrel in and out. But the image quality remaied perfect, so it seem to be a situation where the optics were not getting out of alignment. (And I certainly don't recall dropping or banging the camera.)
Now suddenly my display screen is showing nothing but streaks of bright colors that dance across the screen as I point at different subjects. And this is what's being captured by the camera -- if I shoot a picture and download it to my computer, I get the same splotches of color in the resulting image.
Anyone have any suggestions as to the cause? Thanks.
