Hi -
New member here.
I find this site to be an incredible source of info and was helpful in my picking out a Sony DSC-W7 camera.
In my purchase the folks at Butteryfly Photo (internet reseller)
recommended the lens adapter and the filter set which I had planned to buy from Sony but theirs was a good deal (or was it?)
Any way - I just started to screw on the lens adapter they sent me a Mercury optics adapter supposedly for a W1/W5/W7 37MM and it didn't want to go in at all. I kept carefully working at it and it went about a half a thread and then stops - I wont push it for fear of cross threading the threads.
All the filters are also 37 mm that came with it. I tried screwing the adapter into the filters (they are threaded on both sides male and female threads) and it works just fine so the adapter threads do not seem messed up.
I noticed on the sony info their filters and lenses are 30 mm but NO where does it say what the threading is on the lens adapter itself or the camera except that it requites the lens adapter.
Here's my question -
does anybody know what the threading is on the camera itself?
I'm trying to determine if I have to send my brand new camera back or their adapter is the wrong size.
I looked very carefully at the camera threads and they seem okay.
(sorry for all they typos - small laptop keyboard)
Thanks in advance for any help - I really want to get this camera working with all the options I can - I've only taken a fews pictures with it but very happy so far.
