I have narrowed down my choice of cameras to the Fuji F10 or the Canon Ixus 750. But now I am stuck about what to go for. In the UK I can get the Fuji for about £220 plus memory – the Canon for around £300 plus memory – I could downgrade to the Ixus 550 to save about £50! I think the Canon looks a better camera in terms of build and I like the fact it has a viewfinder but the ISO on the Fuji is really appealing but there are a lot of things not to like about it to! The LCD on it not great resolution – I owned a SONY T1 before and the screen on that was superb but it did not take good indoors photos. One othe point is having a good macro mode is important to me, as it's usefull for copying at the library, the SONY did well in this area. Also I do find the F10 slightly larger than I would like, the SONY was a great size – but I guess this where you need more than one camera!

Anyway I'm sure this is a dilema facing a few people. The Fuji is fantastic value right now, but I have a feeling an F10 MK 2 is just around the corner!

I just read about the F11. That is going to make my choice even harder!

Comments are welcome.

There's a comparison of both cameras right here;

(more specifically, the gallery that it links to, which is here (http://www.pbase.com/koo22/comparison2005)).

Thanks for the link. A very good comparison. The Canon's pictures look slightly sharper. But both cameras are producing similar high quality results. I guess my question is do I want something that can work in low-light setting - with-out flash. That facility would be usefull - but when you look at the amount of noise you start to get at ISO 1600 it's knind off putting. At ISO 800 it's just bearable. I'm going to look into the F11 a bit more before making a decision.

Yeah, it sounds like the F10 or possibly F11 is more of a camera for you - the Canon can only go up to ISO400 and even then, its noise level is shocking. So even if you can only just bear the noise at ISO 800 on the F10, it's still much better than the noise on the Canon at ISO400.

The F10 is slightly bigger but it should be worth it since it does have a better sensor in low light.

Cheers,
Kim.

I'm realising that I can live with-out the viewfinder - nice as it is I would never use it if there's an LCD to compose things with. The F11 looks superior in many ways to the F10. The thing that is most difficult is would I be happy with a camera that is as large as the Fuji F10/F11/Ixus 750 – they are both similar size – I know they are not exactly large in real camera terms but the Ixus 550 in terms of size is perfect. As the F10 and 750 are comparable in terms of raw picture quality I wonder how much better is the picture quality over the Ixus 550?
