Our school owns a Sony CyberShot DSC-P71. Unfortunately, it was donated with no User Guide, so I am left to figure these minor problems out on my own. My question is simple--- how can I delete all the images from the memory card without deleting one by one on the camera. ? I can not find a delete all option on the camera menu. Is there someway to delete them from the memory card via the camera software on the computer? Appreciate any input. I am a newbie . . . :D

If you have the USB or Serial connection cord, plug in the camera, and then go to My Computer, and click on the Removable Disk that is associated with the camera. Highlight all the files on the card by holding the left mouse button down in the upper corner and move it to the oposite lower corner of the window. Now all the files should be highlighted. Right click on one of the files and then select delete. The card should now be empty. Dave

The following is a link to a page where you can find the on-line manual for your camera.

http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=DSCP71

In the meantime: Turn the mode dial to "Setup"
Select "Setup 1"
Select "Format"
Select "OK"

This will format your memory stick erasing all data that is on the card. To select an item use the arrow keys to highlight it, then push the button in the middle of the arrow keys to apply the function. Hope this helps.

When you are looking at the photo on the lcd, hit the "W" on the zoom switch. This will switch it to index mode. You should see up to 9 images. Then delete as normal and you will be asked if you want to delete all.

I would not delete the photos using the computer. Alot of time, it adds a recycle bin to the memory card and you will loose space over time.

I second this. Don't use the computer to delete files or to format. Bad things can happen, things that can be difficult to recover from.
